Properties that contribute to historic districts listed in the NM Register of Cultural Properties are eligible to display a plaque to that effect.
The Monte Vista and College View Historic District in Albuquerque’s Nob Hill is listed in that register. When the district was listed in 1998, 702 of the 852 structures in the district contributed to its historic character. The list of 702 structures appears in the August 2000 nomination of the district to the National Register which you can download on our Historic District page. If you’re unsure email us.
The nomination tells the year that each property in the district was built and whether it contributes to the historic character of the district. We’re happy to help you find other historical information on your property and assist you in developing a citation for your plaque. Citations often contain information like the year of construction, names of the builder, designer, or first occupant, and the architectural style(s) of your house. Plaques can provide a vivid picture of Nob Hill history and architecture.
Plaques of cast bronze are available from the Historical Society of NM which charges $285 for each plaque. Once you receive your plaque we are happy to help you mount the plaque as you direct at no cost. We recommend the “blind tapped” option.
There’s a neat site where you can see all the plaques in and near Nob Hill.
